Our Story

Sacramento Consulting Group (SCG) originated in 2016 as a Sacramento based technology and product focused consulting firm. Since its inception, SCG has been serving clients both in the public and private sector in California. SCG has been serving a wide range of clients. From government clients in the area of technology modernization & migration strategy to startups, in cloud native application & product strategy. SCG has over 60 years of combined IT implementation experience with California state government entities including Department of State Hospitals, Department of Health Care Services, Department of Social Services, Department of Transportation, Department of Tax and Fee Administration, among others.

SCG came about with the following observations

This was something all of us observed on a regular basis. A project begins with high level requirements. And as the project progresses and the passing of time, requirements and project objectives pass through different filters and more often than not, some goals that are considered key in the beginning get left out by the end. Now, a lot of that happening is valid and legitimate and is often termed as weeding out the unnecessary. However, that is not what is being referred to here. What we noticed getting reprioritized and deferred was feature and functionality highly desired by the teams that are most hands on and often at the forefront as product users. And that “weeding out” is often the result of budget or time constraints.

Communication Gaps

Confusion, caused by ambiguity, lack of accountability, and poor coordination are prevented when the Strategic PMO is accountable for the governance and leadership of the practices, roles, and responsibilities, as well as driving integration of talent, processes, and knowledge

Special Focus on Transformation

SCG’s focus on transformation comes from a page we took out of PMI’s Organizational Project Management (OPM). Specifically, the approach to implement strategy through projects and programs. So, SCG operates with the following in mind; each project we implement, it should become a desired model for replication. Accordingly, our team is composed of experienced industry professionals with technology industry backgrounds, and financial sector experience, with access to notable published authors and experts, public speakers, adjunct faculty members, and other distinguished roles being served.

People

We take what we do as highly personal. SCG partners and clients place their trust in us and that cannot be taken lightly. Therefore, we are super cautious about our team growth and culture, commitment, and organizational fit are the highest priorities for SCG. We are structured as a flat organization, so what we do as individuals on the same or different projects, can be more impactful for all of SCG working everywhere.
